Production Blog: We Filmed Some More

Hey, Sappies. Have you missed me? It's Char, back again with more info about our filming process. Turns out, that I forgot to mention that yesterday, along with the dog scenes we filmed, we also got some scenes done on our way to the park by Valentina's house. (Fun fact: I didn't forget, It was just too long for me to include it in the other blog.) Anyway, without further ado, let's get into it.

Incase you're wondering where we found a random dog, Valentina's neighbor has a dog named Abaco which is a female, and we used her as Jax. We first filmed some scenes in the house as Madeline played with Jax before they left to go on a walk. We decided it would be nice to kill two birds at once (I'm not sure if that's the right saying, I'm currently thinking in Spanish), and thought it would be productive if we took our walk all the way to the park so that we could film even more scenes and find a family to film there like we had initially planned. Valentina and I took some shots of Madeline walking Jax throughout the neighborhood. Afterwards, once we finally got to the park, we decided to get some more scenes of Madeline playing with Jax. We found an abandoned football at the park and decided to try and play fetch (plot twist: Abaco does not play fetch) and then tried some running scenes throughout the park. We aslo tried to speak to some families that were there in order to get our scenes done, but of course we had to ask for consent and it turned out that they were all nannies or grandparents that didn't want to be filmed. Anywho, once we were done we walked back to Valentina's house and filmed the last scene of the day before Madeline leaves for work. We asked Sabrina to bring some pictures of her and her family as props to make this work. After that scene, we called it a day.

Although, since Abaco is quite new to the entertainment industry, having to play a whole different gender and name was a tough role for her. Because of this, we all agreed that the scenes filmed with her were kind of bad. The shots of her playing with Sabrina inside of Valentina's house were awkward and she wasn't really listening to us too well at the park. On top of that, without a steady cam, it was pretty difficult to film the scenes at the park attempting to follow behind Madeline as she was running without getting a super shaky video. So in the end, we decided to get rid of those scenes and re-film them some other day.

Once we got back to Valentina's house we decided it would be best to check with the cafe by her house about filming there since they never got back to her. But that's a little sneak peek into tomorrow's blog, see you then Sappies.

XOXO,

    Char
