Production Blog: Here's Where It Gets Complicated...
Hey, Sappies, it's Char. I hope you've gotten some rest, this is going to be a long one. Buckle up. This is just a heads up, warning in advance, caution sign. (Im exaggerating.) Okay, you ready? Let's go.
This is the last editing blog I will be doing. officially. Forever. So this is rather emotional for me. I actually love the satisfaction after editing and being super proud of and content with your piece. But anyway, let's get into the actual important part if this. For this piece I got to do some voice over and sound editing. Of course, since i edited the last audio for our music video, this wasn't too hard. But as for the voice overing...that's a different story. I sort of felt awkward doing it and finding the right tone of voice and attitude for my character, Katrina. I also have only really played with "voice over" when trying to get a crisp sound or layer for clips. Such as shutting a door or a toaster popping, etc. So since this was different, I practiced so much and did so many test runs and re-recording that I was going insane. Poor Valentina was suffering too and having someone else there just staring at my silently waiting to finish talking made it 10x more stressful and awkward. I just wanted to make sure that this was perfect for our sequence though. In the end, I do honestly believe that I nailed it. Let me know what you guys think about it though.
On a more familiar route (but definitely not peaceful), I started editing the sound for our video and tried my best to get it to go from indie to eery. I messed around on CapCut and Movavi until I got the exact audio I wanted. I took input from Valentina, Sabrina, and even my brother who has no clue what the movie is about (he's smart). And after way too long of cutting, lowering, editing, and doing way too much to the audio, I think we accomplished our goal. It changed at the right times and in the right places and worked super well for our scenes. The beat drop of silence to then a low and slow beat back again for the title was a good trick I think was the cherry on top of our opening sequence.
Okay so, that's officially it. Our last project. Our last filming and editing together. I really do hope that you guys enjoy the final product, Sappies. It's the best thing I've worked on so far.
XOXO,
Char
